Arooty Terms of Service

Last updated: September 17, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern access to and use of the Arooty service.

Arooty is operated by:

Artem Masoshin PR Beograd
Dechanska 8, sprat 2, Beograd (Stari Grad), Serbia
PIB (registration number): 115167669

Referred to below as “Arooty”, “we”, “us”, or “our”.

If you have any questions about these Terms, contact us at support@arooty.com.

1. Acceptance of the Terms

By using the Arooty website, web application, Arooty mobile applications, or creating an account, you agree to comply with these Terms.

If you do not agree to the Terms, do not use Arooty.

Certain features or payment methods may also be governed by the terms of third-party platforms and payment providers, including Paddle, Apple App Store, Google Play, RuStore, and YooKassa.

2. What Arooty Is

Arooty is an application for learning Arabic.

The service is available through the web application at arooty.com, as well as through mobile applications for iOS and Android. The Android version may also be distributed through RuStore.

Arooty’s main features include:

  • an Arabic dictionary with search, pronunciation, examples, and grammar information;
  • a structured learning course with lessons across multiple levels;
  • spaced-repetition practice and flashcards based on the user’s personal library;
  • user-created word collections (“wordsets”) that can be kept private or made public;
  • personal statistics, study streaks, goals, and progress;
  • a Discover section with wordsets and collections curated by Arooty.

We may change, improve, add, or remove individual features of the service over time.

3. Age and Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to create an Arooty account and use the service.

If the law of your country sets a higher minimum age, or requires consent from a parent or legal guardian to use an online service or enter into the relevant agreement at your age, you may only use Arooty with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian, in accordance with that law.

4. Account

To register for Arooty, a user may:

  • provide an email address and password; or
  • use Sign in with Google.

You must provide accurate information and take reasonable steps to protect your login credentials.

You are responsible for activity carried out through your account unless applicable law provides otherwise.

If you believe your account has been compromised, we recommend changing your password as soon as possible, terminating unfamiliar active sessions, and contacting us.

Arooty allows you to view active sessions by device or platform, revoke individual sessions, and terminate all active sessions at once.

5. Temporary Closure of Registration

We may temporarily close public registration, for example during a pre-launch period or while operating a waitlist.

During such a period, existing users may continue to sign in to their accounts, while new visitors may be given the option to join a waitlist and receive a notification when registration reopens.

6. Free Plan

The Free plan is provided at no charge, has no trial period, and has no time limit.

It includes:

  • full access to the dictionary, including search, pronunciation, and examples;
  • access to the core free course lessons;
  • the ability to store up to 10 wordsets in your library.

Dictionary access under the Free plan is not a temporary trial.

7. Premium

Arooty offers a paid Premium subscription.

Base reference prices are:

  • USD 5.99 per month;
  • USD 49.99 per year.

The actual price shown at checkout may vary depending on the user’s country, currency, localized pricing, and applicable taxes.

If payment is processed through Paddle, the price shown to the user at checkout is tax-inclusive in accordance with Paddle’s localized pricing system.

Premium includes everything available on the Free plan, plus:

  • all premium course content;
  • the ability to store up to 100 wordsets;
  • priority support.

In-app currency (Aroots). Arooty also provides an in-app currency ("Aroots") that a user earns by using the product (lessons, review sessions, learning streaks, and so on) and may redeem for specific non-monetary benefits, such as extra Premium days or temporary access to specific product features. Aroots cannot be purchased with real money, are not a means of payment, and are not refundable or exchangeable for money.

8. Automatic Renewal

Unless expressly stated otherwise at checkout, Premium is an automatically renewing subscription.

If you choose the monthly plan, the subscription renews every month. If you choose the annual plan, it renews every year.

Before confirming a purchase, the user is shown information about the price, billing frequency, and method of cancelling the subscription on the relevant checkout page or in the payment platform interface.

You may cancel future renewals in accordance with the payment method and platform through which the subscription was purchased.

9. Subscription Cancellation

Cancellation of Premium always takes effect at the end of the period already paid for.

If you cancel your subscription in the middle of a billing period:

  • Premium access remains available until the end of the period already paid for;
  • the subscription will not renew after that;
  • the unused portion of the current paid period does not, by itself, entitle you to a prorated refund.

This rule does not limit any refund rights that may be mandatory under applicable law or provided by the relevant seller, app store, or payment platform.

If you cancelled a subscription but the paid period has not yet ended, you can resume it before that period expires through the interface available in the product. In that case, Premium access continues without interruption, and the remaining paid time is not lost.

10. Payments Through Paddle

When paying by bank card through Paddle, Paddle.com Market Ltd is the seller for the relevant transaction and acts as the Merchant of Record.

This means that Paddle legally processes the sale of the relevant digital service to the end customer and applies its own buyer terms, including applicable refund rules.

Refunds for such transactions are governed by Paddle’s buyer terms, rather than by a separate standalone Arooty refund policy.

Arooty may assist the user and cooperate with Paddle in the review of legitimate refund requests; however, Arooty is not the seller for such a transaction.

When making a purchase, the user should review Paddle’s current terms made available directly by Paddle.

11. Payments Through YooKassa

For certain subscriptions intended for the Russian market and paid in Russian rubles through YooKassa, the applicable purchase and refund terms are determined by the terms of the relevant payment arrangement and the seller for the specific transaction.

Arooty does not establish a separate, broader refund policy on top of the terms applicable to such a purchase.

Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights under applicable law.

12. Purchases Through Apple App Store, Google Play, and RuStore

If a subscription or other purchase is made within a mobile application through:

  • Apple App Store;
  • Google Play;
  • RuStore,

the relevant platform processes the payment and applies its own rules for purchases, subscription cancellations, and refunds.

Refund requests for such purchases are generally handled by the relevant platform according to its rules and technical procedures.

13. Taxes and Localized Pricing

Prices may differ between countries and platforms.

The final price may be affected by:

  • applicable taxes;
  • payment currency;
  • localized pricing;
  • the rules of the App Store, Google Play, RuStore, Paddle, or other payment platforms.

The price and subscription period shown to the user immediately before confirming the purchase are controlling for the relevant transaction.

14. User Content

A user may create their own wordsets and upload individual files to Arooty, for example an image or audio file for the cover or design of a custom wordset.

At present, each uploaded image or audio file is limited to 5 MB.

A user may make a wordset they created public. In that case, other users may see it and add the words it contains to their own library.

You retain ownership of the content you create or upload.

At the same time, you grant Arooty a non-exclusive license, limited to the scope necessary to operate the service, to:

  • host;
  • store;
  • process;
  • technically reproduce;
  • display

your content to the extent necessary to provide the relevant feature.

If you mark content as public, the license also includes the right to display that content to other users as part of Arooty’s features.

This license does not transfer ownership of your user content to Arooty.

15. Requirements for User Content

By uploading or publishing content, you represent that you have the necessary rights and permissions to use it and to grant Arooty the license described above.

You may not upload, publish, or distribute through Arooty materials that:

  • violate the law;
  • infringe copyright, trademark, or other rights of third parties;
  • contain malicious code;
  • are intended for fraud or to mislead others;
  • contain illegal, clearly harmful, or other content prohibited by applicable law.

We may remove or restrict access to content if we reasonably believe it violates these Terms, the law, or the rights of third parties.

16. Arooty Intellectual Property

Unless expressly stated otherwise, rights in Arooty materials belong to the Arooty operator or its licensors.

Such materials include, in particular:

  • dictionary data and dictionary structure;
  • learning lessons;
  • exercises;
  • explanations;
  • texts and examples;
  • generated or licensed audio;
  • interface design;
  • software code;
  • logos, brand elements, and other service materials.

Arooty grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use such materials solely for personal, non-commercial language learning and ordinary use of the service.

17. Prohibited Use of Materials and the Service

Without our prior permission, you may not:

  • mass-copy, download, or distribute dictionary or course materials;
  • publish substantial parts of the course or dictionary on other websites, in applications, databases, or datasets;
  • use automated scraping or bulk downloading of content;
  • systematically extract data through unofficial clients;
  • use the Arooty API outside the ordinary operation of the official web or mobile client;
  • circumvent paid restrictions, subscription mechanisms, or access-right checks;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise investigate the service to an extent prohibited by law.

Nothing in this section limits activities expressly permitted by mandatory provisions of applicable law.

18. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Arooty for:

  • illegal activity;
  • infringement of the rights of others;
  • circumventing subscriptions or paywall mechanisms;
  • creating excessive automated load on the service;
  • interfering with Arooty, its servers, API, or infrastructure;
  • impersonating another person or organization;
  • obtaining unauthorized access to other users’ accounts or data;
  • intentionally disrupting the normal operation of public wordsets or other user-interaction features;
  • uploading illegal, infringing, or malicious files or materials.

We may apply technical limits and other reasonable measures to prevent abuse.

19. Service Availability

We aim to keep Arooty operating reliably, but we do not guarantee that the service will always be available without interruptions, delays, or errors.

Access may be temporarily limited due to:

  • maintenance;
  • updates;
  • infrastructure failures;
  • issues affecting third-party providers;
  • circumstances beyond Arooty’s reasonable control.

20. Educational Nature of the Service

Arooty is an educational tool.

We do not guarantee:

  • achievement of a specific level of Arabic proficiency;
  • a particular learning speed;
  • successful completion of an exam;
  • achievement of any specific educational, professional, or academic result.

Learning outcomes depend, among other things, on study regularity, the user’s starting level, and other factors beyond Arooty’s control.

21. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Arooty is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

We do not warrant that the service will be completely free of errors or will operate continuously on every device or network.

However, this section does not exclude or limit warranties, rights, or remedies that cannot be waived under applicable consumer-protection law.

22. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Arooty and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the service.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the aggregate liability of the Arooty operator for claims relating to the service or these Terms shall not exceed the amount actually paid by the relevant user for Arooty during the twelve months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

This limitation does not apply where its application is prohibited by law, including liability that cannot be limited or excluded under mandatory consumer-protection rules.

23. Suspension and Termination of Access

We may suspend or terminate access to an account if a user materially violates these Terms, including by:

  • abusing the service;
  • attempting to circumvent paid restrictions;
  • creating excessive automated load;
  • uploading illegal or infringing content;
  • interfering with operation of the service;
  • using Arooty for unlawful purposes.

Where reasonably possible in light of the nature of the violation, we may give the user prior notice or an opportunity to remedy the violation.

Immediate suspension may be used where necessary for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or protection of other users.

24. Stopping Use by the User

You may stop using Arooty at any time.

If you have Premium, simply stopping use of the application does not necessarily cancel the subscription. The subscription must be cancelled using the method provided by the platform or payment service through which it was purchased.

After cancellation, Premium remains active until the end of the period already paid for.

25. Closing an Account

Arooty currently does not provide a separate automated self-service account deletion button.

To request account closure, email support@arooty.com from the email address associated with the account, or provide other information sufficient to reasonably verify your authority over the account.

Deletion or continued retention of personal data after account closure is governed by applicable law and the Arooty Privacy Policy.

26. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Serbia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.

If you are a consumer habitually resident in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another country whose law does not allow this choice of governing law to deprive you of mandatory consumer protections, nothing in these Terms limits the protections you are entitled to under the mandatory law of your country of habitual residence.

[COURT OR ARBITRATION MECHANISM — PENDING LEGAL REVIEW]

The specific court or other body competent to hear disputes, and whether arbitration will be used, have not yet been finalized. This section should be reviewed and completed by a lawyer familiar with Serbian law and international B2C SaaS/digital services before it is treated as final.

27. Mandatory Consumer Rights

Nothing in these Terms is intended to limit consumer rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.

If any provision of these Terms conflicts with a mandatory rule of law, the relevant mandatory rule will prevail to the necessary extent.

28. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time.

The current version will be published with a new “Last updated” date.

For material changes that noticeably affect the rights or obligations of active paid users, we will make reasonable efforts to notify them, for example through the service or by email.

Continued use of Arooty after the updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the new version to the extent permitted by applicable law.

If the law requires separate consent to a particular change, we will request that consent.

29. Assignment and Change of Operator

A user may not transfer their rights and obligations under these Terms to another person without our consent, unless otherwise provided by law.

Arooty may transfer this agreement, rights in the service, or related obligations to another legal entity in connection with a business reorganization, sale of the project, creation of a new company, or other lawful transfer of the business, subject to applicable law and mandatory user rights.

30. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.

The invalid provision will apply to the maximum extent permitted by law or be replaced by an applicable rule that most closely reflects its legal purpose.

31. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with applicable purchase rules, terms of third-party payment platforms, and the Arooty Privacy Policy, govern use of the service in the relevant respects.

If these Terms conflict with mandatory terms of an app store or Merchant of Record in relation to a specific payment, the terms of that platform apply to the payment to the extent they govern that transaction.
